Look up Asherah Pole. That is what this scripture is talking about. We do not WORSHIP our Christmas trees.

I know what you mean, Debi. I have a sister who puts up a great big freshly cut tree every year and she doesn't know a thing about how pagan it is. However, she feels dead-set against Halloween and decorates eggs and stuff at Easter with our great-nephew. I know that maybe in the past, people did "worship" these things but is what we do by setting up a tree and decorating it really "worship" or creating an idol? I just don't know.

I think things like this get sucked into Christian celebrations because it was like the Catholic church trying to over-ride some pagan holiday and put a Christian spin on it. I think Christmas (whatever it used to be called) was a day of revelry and drunkenness and it wasn't until "A Christmas Carol" book was written that people started to celebrate Christmas in the fashion it is celebrated (by the masses) today.

There is a great program available (the History channel?) on the origins of Christmas, but I bet you can find excerpts of such information just by searching on Youtube.

It's all a great big mess and satan (small "s") always has to twist and pervert things. This world is not our home! Please come for us soon, Jesus!

I think he only scratched the surface. There is a lot more to the christmas culture that needs saying. There's another challenge. Check out the roots and meanings behind what most do in the name of tradition at Christmas. It would shock most Christians ..... Although, maybe not, I have a friend that says it is ok because he knows the real meaning of Christmas. I don't think he does know the real meaning of christmas. The sad thing is that he was not prepared to listen to what I had to say ..... Blessings

How did the tree ever get into the church holidays if this is Pagan? This is hard for me, because my family are Not christians. If i tell my husband no tree, hes gonna tell me where the bear goes in the woods!! You get my point. Its an uneasy thing for me now seeing this.
